Modern Matt Painted Kitchen – Kingsheath

A sleek, modern, matt painted kitchen in Kingsheath; painted seal grey with medium edge bow handles. Our clients had a lovely town house; the kitchen had an unusable lean-to at the rear. There were also doors and windows in the wrong positions which made the kitchen difficult to use in a practical way. The lean-to was knocked down and replaced with an extension. This gave an open plan family area; with bi-fold doors overlooking their garden and a ceiling lantern filling the room with light.

Toni contacted us following a recommendation from her builder who we had previously worked with. They didn’t want their galley kitchen to feel cramped but needed to house a boiler and include larder units, a tall fridge, built under freezer and two ovens.

Therefore, we blocked up a window and door to the left hand side of the kitchen. This allowed us to have a large bank of units to house all of the appliances. Within this bank of units there were two space towers. We also included a pantry unit with extra hidden worktop space which would be used for making drinks and to house the toaster; this kept the rest of the worktop clutter free.

At the end of the bank of units was a corian worktop with sink in front of the window. On the opposite side the hob was positioned centrally amongst a run of drawers. To help with the feeling of space the only thing that was put on this wall was a slim extractor; so that when you come into the room you’re looking straight through to the garden; giving a real feeling of space.
