A Classic Shaker Kitchen in Blackwell
A classic shaker kitchen in a lovely cottage in Blackwell. Our client had recently moved into the cottage, and the current kitchen didn’t suit the property. Our client wanted to create an inviting, warm kitchen; with a small utility.
We love symmetry in Matthew James Kitchens, and try to incorporate it as well as we can. This kitchen had a pillar, that meant that it could be difficult to design. By creating another pillar and positioning the sink centrally between the pillars; it created a beautiful line of symmetry right across the length; with the built-in fridge-freezer and oven and combi-oven at one end and a pantry at the opposite end.
Floating shelves above the sink pulled the two sides together without closing in the space; which although big was quite narrow.
The island unit provided plenty of storage and housed the induction hob and a breakfast bar.
The small utility provided space for the washing machine and tumble drier, a broom cupboard, worktop space and a built-in sleeping area for the dog.
Karndean flooring completed the look.
The photos were kindly supplied by our client as they had since moved on to a bigger property.
