Nestled within the charming suburb of Solihull, we recently had the privilege of bringing to life a bespoke in-frame kitchen for a client.

As one enters this heart of the home, they are greeted by the serene palette of Farrow & Ball colours, with the island adorned in Borrowed Light 235 – a soft blue hue that instils tranquillity. The majority of the cabinetry basks in All White 2005, creating a delightful contrast that breathes openness and purity into the space.

This thoughtful curation extended to a dedicated drinks area, where base units in Borrowed Light 235 are not just functional elements but aesthetic focal points designed around the distinct wall depths that add unique character to the room.

The essence of nature is brought forth with Lancaster oak interiors gracing the majority of the cabinets and a pristine Alpine White highlighting the glass-fronted units. Anchoring this symphony of colours is the Dekton Rem Natural worktop, offering a robust yet strikingly sophisticated surface for culinary exploration.

The thoughtfully selected fixtures and appliances further exemplify the craftsmanship of the kitchen. The Luxoplus 1810 sink, paired with Franke taps (featured across the kitchen, utility, and drinks bar), delineates a visage of modern practicality that aligns with our steadfast dedication to quality and performance.

Functionality resonates throughout the space with innovative storage solutions such as the 600-wide and 900-wide space towers and the Le-mans corner pull-out. The Franke Krios J handles in stainless steel are not only tactile delights but emblematic of our seamless integration of design and utility.

The heart of this home beats with the seamless operation of Neff appliances, selected for their reliability and ability. With ovens designed for culinary excellence, a warming drawer that ensures a meal is never less than perfect, and refrigeration solutions that speak to a bespoke lifestyle, every aspect was tailored to the unique needs of our client.

For the drinks area, a specially designated fridge ensures that the connoisseur’s collection is always at the perfect temperature, blending convenience with elegance.

All of these features are subtly underscored by the sophistication of the Bora basic hob, whose presence is felt with its innovative solution that redefines kitchen aesthetics and functionality.

Revered for its whisper-quiet operation, it ensures the kitchen remains a sanctuary of calm and conversation, even when culinary activities reach their peak.

Its design simplifies cleaning, promising more moments for creativity and less for chores, with durable stainless steel components that withstand the test of time. The generous cooking surface welcomes ambitious meals, while its compact size maximizes under-cabinet storage, blending seamlessly into the bespoke aesthetics of the kitchen without sacrificing space or functionality.

Each element of this kitchen tells a story of tailored craftsmanship and the desire to foster sublime moments within the walls of a home. At Matthew James Kitchens, we craft not just kitchens but backdrops for family memories.

A Personal Journey with Matthew James

At Matthew James Kitchens, we've been at the heart of homes for generations, watching kitchen trends evolve while staying true to timeless craftsmanship. As a family-run business deeply rooted in our community, we understand that your kitchen is more than just a room—it's the soul of your home.

Have a question?

As a family-run business that values transparency, we understand the importance of timing. Every kitchen is unique, just like the families we serve. Typically, from initial design to the final polished surface, a bespoke kitchen can take anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks. But rest assured, we'll work closely with you to ensure the process fits seamlessly into your life.

This is where our expertise truly shines. There's no one-size-fits-all answer, as each home and homeowner has different needs. We take pride in sitting down with you, perhaps over a cup of tea in our showroom, to understand how you live, cook, and entertain. Whether it's a classic work triangle or a more modern zoned approach, we'll craft a layout that's as functional as it is beautiful

This is a question we get asked all the time. In our experience, clever storage solutions are the unsung heroes of a well-designed kitchen. From pull-out pantries to bespoke corner units, we have a myriad of tricks up our sleeves to ensure every inch of your kitchen works hard. After all, a clutter-free kitchen is a joy to cook in, whether you're whipping up a quick weekday dinner or hosting a grand Sunday roast for the family.
