At Matthew James Kitchens, we are all about craftsmanship and attention to detail. Our latest project in Halesowen is a perfect example of how we can take challenging spaces and turn them into amazing, functional kitchens that exceed our clients’ expectations.
The Brief
When our client found us online and approached us with their tiny, dark kitchen, we saw an opportunity to create something really special. The existing space was small, lacked natural light and was only suitable for one person to work in at a time. It was clear that a complete overhaul of the room was needed.
The Challenges
The existing kitchen presented several significant challenges that required innovative solutions:

Innovative Solutions
Here’s what we did to overcome all of the challenges above.
- Removed the wall between the kitchen and conservatory, dramatically opening up the space
- Utilised both sides of the newly expanded kitchen for increased storage and worktop area
- Created a flowing, open-plan design that allows multiple people to use the space comfortably
- Installed LVT flooring to unify the kitchen and conservatory areas
- Added a small window (the client’s inspired suggestion) to bring natural light into the far end of the kitchen
