Project Background:
Situated in the vibrant locale of Solihull, Matthew James Kitchens undertook the challenge of reimagining an originally large but poorly designed kitchen. The homeowners discovered us online and entrusted us with the task of turning their dream kitchen into a reality.
The existing kitchen had a panoramic view of the garden, thanks to large bifold doors. Still, it wasn’t utilised well due to the kitchen’s layout – a potential that the clients wanted to explore. Despite being spacious, the kitchen was somewhat narrow, creating a unique design challenge. The clients wanted to make the space social and functional with an added island, seating, a tables area, a designated drinks area, a TV spot, and ample worktop space. All these had to be integrated without compromising the stunning garden view.
Matthew James Kitchens rose to the challenge, remodelling the kitchen with a careful design approach. The solution lay in creating banquet seating onto the kitchen island. This design manoeuvre allowed for sufficient worktop space, a comfortable seating area around the table that overlooked the garden, and a cosy TV space. Furthermore, a niche in the wall was effectively used to incorporate a breakfast bar with an inbuilt drinks cabinet, thus adding more functionality without overpowering the space.
For the aesthetics, we used In-Frame Doors in the striking Hartforth Blue with Oak Drawers. Alongside the contemporary design, we tucked in an innovative drinks cabinet – a thoughtful addition for the homeowners who loved a social setting.
The appliance set was entirely from Neff, known for their high-quality build and efficient functionality, consisting of an Oven B57CR22G0B, a Combi C1MR02G0B, Wine Storage Cabinet KU9213HG0G, Built-In Larder Fridge KI182SF0G, Built-In Larder Freezer G17813F0G, Dishwasher S353ITX05G, and an Induction Hob T48FD23X2.
The sense of bespoke luxury extended to the tap and sink with a Quooker Fusion Tap in Patinated brass and a traditional Belfast sink. The worktop, chosen to be Mirostone Tah Mahal, added a beautiful contrast and complemented the Hartforth Blue doors perfectly.
This Solihull project perfectly showcases Matthew James Kitchens’ capability to blend functional design, bespoke aesthetics passionately, and our client’s unique requirements into an amazing space that becomes more than just a kitchen – an area where memories are made.
