A Reimagined Kitchen Merging Elegance and Practicality

Project Background:

Located in the idyllic Balsall Common, Matthew James Kitchens had the privilege of designing a kitchen for a discerning couple who had a taste of our exquisite craftsmanship a year prior. Entrusted with the task once again, this time it was to transform the kitchen in their new house into a haven of practicality, comfort, and style.

Upon examination, they placed in our hands a spacious kitchen area that sadly wasn’t living up to its potential. The room was there, but it was not optimised in a way that matched its unique selling points. Our task was clear: refashion the generous space into a functional, visually appealing kitchen, thereby offering them extra storage, improved seating, and, importantly, breath-taking views of their lovely garden.

To meet these needs, we crafted an engaging design that embraced Narrow Shaker Putty & Porcelain internal cabinets, blending seamlessly with the aesthetic of the room and providing that additional storage they craved.

Understanding our clients’ preference for efficiency and cost-effectiveness, we made a point to integrate their existing Neff appliances, which included an induction cooktop, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, oven, and a combi. Each piece was thoughtfully positioned to partner with the layout, paying heed to both their functionality and energy flow within the space.

With attention to detail that’s second to none, we included an integrated bin, thus optimising space, while providing an efficient solution for waste management. Next, we installed a Quooker tap — the epitome of modern kitchen convenience, offering boiling, cold and sparkling water from a single spout.

The heart of any kitchen lies in its sink and worktops: areas that bear the brunt of daily kitchen activities. Here, we chose a resilient Corian sink, which paired beautifully with the 38mm Corian Clam Shell worktop. Not only does this combination assure durability, but it imparts an unwavering elegance that is sure to stand the test of time.

To anchor this whole image together, we laid a Karndean floor — a touch of enduring beauty that is also a clear testament to our commitment to quality.

A Personal Journey with Matthew James

At Matthew James Kitchens, we've been at the heart of homes for generations, watching kitchen trends evolve while staying true to timeless craftsmanship. As a family-run business deeply rooted in our community, we understand that your kitchen is more than just a room—it's the soul of your home.

Have a question?

As a family-run business that values transparency, we understand the importance of timing. Every kitchen is unique, just like the families we serve. Typically, from initial design to the final polished surface, a bespoke kitchen can take anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks. But rest assured, we'll work closely with you to ensure the process fits seamlessly into your life.

This is where our expertise truly shines. There's no one-size-fits-all answer, as each home and homeowner has different needs. We take pride in sitting down with you, perhaps over a cup of tea in our showroom, to understand how you live, cook, and entertain. Whether it's a classic work triangle or a more modern zoned approach, we'll craft a layout that's as functional as it is beautiful

This is a question we get asked all the time. In our experience, clever storage solutions are the unsung heroes of a well-designed kitchen. From pull-out pantries to bespoke corner units, we have a myriad of tricks up our sleeves to ensure every inch of your kitchen works hard. After all, a clutter-free kitchen is a joy to cook in, whether you're whipping up a quick weekday dinner or hosting a grand Sunday roast for the family.
