Cofton Hackett Traditional In-Frame Kitchen Transformation

Project Background:

Our client, a family residing in Cofton Hackett, sought to upgrade and renovate their inherited kitchen space to better suit their needs and lifestyle. Their target audience for this project was primarily their family and friends, who would benefit from a more functional and aesthetically appealing kitchen environment. The main problem they faced was the inefficient use of space, with a large, awkward layout and multiple doors leading to different areas of the house.

Project Goals:
The primary goal of this project was to transform the existing kitchen into a functional, visually appealing, and comfortable space for the family to enjoy. By addressing the layout challenges and incorporating the clients’ wish list of features, we aimed to create a beautiful and practical kitchen that would seamlessly integrate with the surrounding living areas.

Project Scope:

Our clients provided a comprehensive list of desired features, including a pantry, a large fridge, ample freezer space, and plenty of storage.

They also envisioned a sizable island with a view of the garden through the bi-fold doors.

Our task was to incorporate these elements while tackling the layout challenges posed by the existing space.

Project Execution:

We began by reconfiguring the layout, closing off the door to the playroom and creating a new opening closer to the bi-fold doors.

This change allowed us to build a spacious L-shaped wall, housing all the appliances, pantry unit, and storage. This new layout effectively defined the kitchen workspace, eliminating the previous thoroughfare issue.

Adjacent to the hallway and walk-in larder, we installed a large sink with a Quooker boiling water tap, a dishwasher, and a pull-out bin, creating a functional and organized space for dishwashing and waste disposal.

The centerpiece of the new kitchen was a stunning, natural oak island unit, featuring a breakfast bar, an open shelf unit, and a Bora classic venting hob at its core.

This island was topped with elegant Staron worktops, complete with a bespoke edge detail for a crisp and polished finish.

Features

Our experience and expertise allowed us to transform a large but awkward space into a functional and visually stunning kitchen tailored to our clients’ needs.

Through careful planning and execution, we successfully integrated their desired features and created a welcoming environment for family and friends to gather and enjoy.

A Personal Journey with Matthew James

At Matthew James Kitchens, we've been at the heart of homes for generations, watching kitchen trends evolve while staying true to timeless craftsmanship. As a family-run business deeply rooted in our community, we understand that your kitchen is more than just a room—it's the soul of your home.

Have a question?

As a family-run business that values transparency, we understand the importance of timing. Every kitchen is unique, just like the families we serve. Typically, from initial design to the final polished surface, a bespoke kitchen can take anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks. But rest assured, we'll work closely with you to ensure the process fits seamlessly into your life.

This is where our expertise truly shines. There's no one-size-fits-all answer, as each home and homeowner has different needs. We take pride in sitting down with you, perhaps over a cup of tea in our showroom, to understand how you live, cook, and entertain. Whether it's a classic work triangle or a more modern zoned approach, we'll craft a layout that's as functional as it is beautiful

This is a question we get asked all the time. In our experience, clever storage solutions are the unsung heroes of a well-designed kitchen. From pull-out pantries to bespoke corner units, we have a myriad of tricks up our sleeves to ensure every inch of your kitchen works hard. After all, a clutter-free kitchen is a joy to cook in, whether you're whipping up a quick weekday dinner or hosting a grand Sunday roast for the family.
